On the morning of 27th September 2025, a team of legal officers from UCLF travelled to Jinja to carry out a legal sensitisation on Religious Freedoms and Religious Persecution in Eastern Uganda. This activity falls under the Arise Africa Campaign Project in which UCLF is partnering with Stretch for Hope Uganda (SHU).

The sensitisation was carried out on a talk show on one of the prominent radio stations in Eastern Uganda, Busoga One Radio 90.6 FM, which covers over 10 districts in Busoga region. On this talkshow, the team was able to educate the listeners on religious freedom, its importance and the different forms of religious persecution. The law regarding religious freedom was discussed and also the right of children to exercise their right of belief.
The listeners were also given an opportunity to call in and ask questions and many of them were interested in knowing more about children’s rights in regards to religion. They also highlighted the rise of cults within Busoga region and sought guidance on how to address incidences where certain religions abuse human rights. All in all, the sensitisation was a success and the listeners requested for another talk show to further discuss about this topic.
