The Vice President and Treasurer of LexisNexis Rule of Law Foundation, Ms Teresa Jennings, on Wednesday, 18 January, 2023 paid a courtesy call on the Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny – Dollo at the Judiciary headquarters.
The meeting was attended by Court of Appeal Justice, Hon. Justice Geoffrey Kiryabwire. The Chief Justice expressed interest in a tool that will enable Judges and Justices to research and write judgements using a software which can be used offline.
This, he said, would allow expedite case decisions and help them manage and resolve pending caseload.
Ms Jennings thanked the the Chief Justice for his hospitality and insight saying she was looking forward to a great partnership.
In attendance was the Private Legal Secretary to the Chief Justice, HW Ayebare Tumwebaze and a team from the Judiciary ICT Department headed by the Principal Information Technology Officer, Mr David Kikabi Sunday.
Visit to Commercial Court
Ms Jennings also visited the Commercial Division of the High Court where she was received by the Court�s Registrar, HW Juliet Harty Hatanga.
The visit was to assess areas of support and also inspect the court premises ahead of the LexisNexis roll out. The Commercial Court is going to be one of the pilot courts to implement the System.
Once implemented, the System will help Judicial Officers to make timely Judgements by accessing legal research solutions promptly.
