⚖️ Empowering Communities: UCLF Delivers Legal Sensitisation on Land, Succession, and Family Law
On Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025, the Universal Christian Lawyers’ Fellowship (UCLF) held a crucial legal sensitisation event at the New Kabowa Redeemed Church of Christ. The focus of the day was to equip the local community with essential legal knowledge that impacts their daily lives.
This outreach initiative saw a vibrant turnout, with a congregation of over 300 people gathering to learn about critical areas of the law.

Key Topics Covered
The UCLF legal team provided in-depth education on three complex, yet vital, aspects of Ugandan law:
- Land Law: Understanding property rights, ownership, tenancy, and dispute resolution concerning land—a particularly sensitive and important topic for many Ugandan families.
- Succession Law: Clarifying the legal process for distributing property and assets after the death of a family member, including the importance of wills and avoiding intestate disputes.
- Family Law: Discussing legal frameworks surrounding marriage, divorce, child custody, and maintenance, helping congregants understand their rights and responsibilities within the family unit.
Deep Engagement and Appreciation
The session was highly interactive, with congregants enthusiastically utilizing the opportunity to ask specific questions about different legal scenarios they face. The engagement highlighted the community’s urgent need for practical legal guidance.
By the end of the event, the response was overwhelmingly positive. Most of the attendees expressed profound appreciation for the knowledge acquired, noting how crucial this information is for securing their property and protecting their families.
“They also expressed a desire for UCLF to come again and teach them more aspects about the law.”
The strong turnout and genuine enthusiasm underscore the ongoing demand for accessible legal education within communities like Kabowa. UCLF looks forward to continuing this empowering work and addressing the community’s request for further sessions on other legal topics.
